Information on the Tributes:

Wednesday, 10/8 at 9pm – Online Vid Tribute from The Beyond the Wall crew:

On Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 at 9pm Eastern, the Beyond the Wall crew will be recording a live podcast show in which we will bid farewell to our good friend, P.G. Holyfield.

There is also an in-person gathering and a Memorial Service occurring on Oct 11th and 12th, respectively.

If you would like to attend one or both of those events, please check the links on this post at SpecFicMedia.com.

Of course, we understand that not everyone will be able to attend in person.

For so many, these podcasts are how they knew him.

So, the show on Wednesday the 8th will be a way for us, and for you, to express your feelings about this man, who brought so many people together.

We on the crew will be sharing our feelings and memories, but, we would also like to hear from you. If you have words, audio or video that you would like to share, please email it to us at BTW@SpecFicMedia.com.

Even if you have already sent something, please re-send it if you would like it to appear on this show. If you would like to send something that is just for family or any other private audience, please indicate this in your email.

And of course, if you are reading this too late or are just unable to put your feelings together before we record, please send anyways.

Also, please help us boost the signal, both for this announcement and the show event links that will follow, so that everyone that would like to can participate.

P.G. Holyfield founded a great community at SpecFicMedia, but now his watch has ended.

Our watch continues and so we will carry on our sacred duty, which is to talk about things we love – and people that we love – with all of you.

Thank you, from your friends at SpecFicMedia.com.

Saturday: A Casual Gathering and A Celebration of Life in Honor of Patrick G. Holyfield

October 11th from 6 pm – 10 pm – Come and go as you are available

Flying Saucer in Charlotte, NC
9605 N Tryon St Suite A, Charlotte, North Carolina 28262

Chooch and I will be hosting an informal gathering in Charlotte on Saturday, October 11th, at The Flying Saucer. It’s a craft brew honoring restaurant, that we’ve enjoyed with P.G. in the past.

The official time is from 6 – 8 pm, when we are guaranteed use of the private room. If our numbers dwindle, we may move to a large table or we may be allowed to stay in the private room. They have been wonderfully accommodating and will do their best for us.

There will be self-pay dining and libation offerings in mid-price range

A brief video of memories from Chooch and I including some favorite Con(vention) Family will be available for viewing at any time. Otherwise, come as you are able as you arrive from other destinations or to spend the time together. We hope to highlight P.G., our friendship, and shared world with him in the podcasting and convention realms.

This will be a celebration of life, his life, and our con family experiences with him, but also a place for those that wish for grieving and remembrance, as well.

If you have ideas for this celebration of his life, please make pledges of time or assistance, please send to BTW@SpecFicMedia.com.

If you have pix or vid clips you love of PG, please send to BTW@SpecFicMedia.com, for possible inclusion in the video we are hoping to complete. (Time constraints.)

Also, if you are local and available to assist, please let me know at the above email to coordinate with needs for this unexpected gathering/weekend.

Sunday: The Memorial Service in honor of Patrick G. Holyfield

Sunday, at 12pm – Embassy Suites Banquet Room located at 4800 S. Tryon St (near Charlotte Douglas Airport–they will have shuttle service).

Please forward any written sentiments, photos, audio or video you would like to make a part of my tribute to me (Kim AKA The Trustee) at kim@pghct.org.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and contributions. I truly look forward to seeing or hearing from all of you, either next week or in the future.

Surviving the Holidays, a Stitch ‘n Bitch Discussion, recorded on Saturday after Thanksgiving 2010.

Guests:
Paulette Jaxton’s novel, The Empress Sword.
Andrea’s The New Vintage Wardrobe blog.
M.A. in PA’s The Modern Domestic Geek.

Mentioned:
J&D Bacon Salt

Do not play with children present, as we discuss the magic of Santa Claus and want no part of spoilers!

Join us in my living room as we have an unplanned discussion on how we manage to survive the overwhelming crush of the holidays with most of our sanity intact. We also discuss some of our favorite holiday traditions and trying to make the holidays special for ourselves and our families.
We cover old and new traditions including meals, desserts, shopping and decorating.
One thing of note, when Andrea asked how our pup reacted to the tree, I neglected to mention that we used a bitter orange spray on it. I don’t know how much that helped since we never left her unsupervised with the tree and were quick to correct her behavior. This combination made the tree off-limits to her. Since we’ve now put the tree up again, we’ve learned that the bitter orange remains on the tree and hope it will keep her away from it again.

Also, I don’t detail what we did with the reindeer food. As the last thing for the kids to do before bedtime, they would simply go outside and sprinkle it in the yard so that Santa would know where they were. This was especially useful when they were believers and might have worried if Santa would know which parent’s house they were at on Christmas Eve. Be warned, because if it rains it looks really nasty but is really just sparkly oatmeal. 🙂

In chaotic Girls’ Rules fashion, my Golden Retriever pup Kaylee occasionally makes her presence known.

I attended a Wine Social and Benefit Concert on October 17, 2010, hosted by the amazingly generous Jen and Phil Rossi. All proceeds raised were in support of Carrie Turnbull and Ann Hudnall in their 2011 fundraising goals for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure in Philadelphia.

At the end of the evening I was able to steal them away for an interview, which I am happy to share with you in this episode. This will be their fourth 3-Day, and I hope their dedication and excitement will encourage you to make a donate in support of their team.

To Donate:

Susan G. Komen site is laden with information, a great resource to learn about breast health, early detection, support if diagnosed and for donations and participation.

Recorded live on May 30, 2010 the panel included Mur Lafferty, Christiana Ellis, J.R. Blackwell and Philippa Ballantine. These are all highly creative and prolific female writers that have utilized new media in one way or another to share their works. We discuss a myriad of topics, and have great audience participation as well.

My apologies for the audio quality. The recording we received from the Balticon staff was only 2 minutes long, so this post is actually from our H4N. Yay for backup plans! My Boy Friday (Chooch) diligently worked his magic to improve the quality as much as possible, and he has my thanks for his efforts.

This episode is marked explicit due to infrequent profanity and brief discussion of erotica.

There is no promo, because the authors themselves reference countless tantalizing books and podcasts for your enjoyment.

Note: There was a problem with the original post that corrupted the iTunes feed. Apologies if you were not able to receive the initial episode, or if you received this post twice.

This episode I’m joined in the recording burrow by Jett Micheyl and M.A. in the Pa., and we have a few of the best female voices of podcasting join us via Skype to discuss various issues in the podcast world including voice acting, podcast production, and sexuality.

Martha Holloway of Dancing Cat Studios, The Balticon Podcast, and the now retired A.D.D. Cast. You can find her on twitter at @ljosalf. Along with her husband Paul Fischer, their Dancing Cat Studios has produced Ronnie Blackwell’s “Serve it Cold” available at Podiobooks.comLorne Epstein’s “You’re Hired”, available at Podiobooks.com, and assisted in production for Forever Fifteen by Kimberly Steel.  This female force of nature has also done voice work for various podcast novels, and can most recently be found in Voices of Babylon’s Three Edged Sword which is set in the Babylon 5 universe.

Paulette Jaxton and all of her writings and projects can be found at her main site. Her current podcast novel can be found at The Empress Sword site or at the Podiobooks.com site and Form Letter Rejection Theatre is where you can find a few of her short stories released with a full audio cast. You can find her on Twitter at @PauletteJaxton and in Facebook as PauletteJaxton. Paulette has also done voice work for various podcasts, and puts her exceptional audio production talents to good use by assisting in the production of Chris Lester’s Metamor City and P.G. Holyfield’s Murder at Avedon Hill.

Heather Welliver has the majority of her voice work listed at her main site. The podcast she hosts with her husband, Grailwolf’s Geek Life, is currently on hiatus. You can find her music with The Shillas at Amie Street. The sultry “Faithful” is my personal favorite.

M.A. in the Pa.‘s projects include The Modern Domestic Geek and the now retired Better Late Than Never and Fanboy Hell. She has also appeared on Otaku Generation and has done voice work for various podcast novels. M.A. can be found on Twitter at @MAinPA.

Jett Micheyl blogs for The Nerd Signal, has appeared on the Geek Radio Daily podcast and previously had her own podcast called the Jett Show. Her personal blog is The Opinionated Observer. Jett can be found on Twitter at @MistressJett.

The host, Vivid Muse. I co-host a blended family life podcast called Into the Blender with her husband Chooch. Our now-defunct podcast, The City of Heroes Podcast, was a finalist in 2008 and 2009 for the Parsec Award. My personal blog is Vivid Musings and I’ve also provided voice work for various podcast novels and projects.

Get to know my Core Girls, Jett Micheyl and M.A. in PA. This is not a topic show, but rather a chance for us to record together before we add more voices on the next episode. We talk about shared interests, our other projects and we go on a bit long about MMO gaming since it’s something we all dearly love.

Also, I ask for input from any males that may be listening as well as anyone that played Star Trek Online during the Borg attack on the last day of beta testing.
